A total of 31 teams from across the Kashmir Division are participating in the tournament, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for cricket and sports among young people.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the local youth in organising the large-scale sporting event and described it as a positive step towards channelising youthful energy into constructive activities.

He said sports play a vital role in personality development, discipline, teamwork and the overall well-being of youth.

Highlighting the significance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Athar Aamir Khan said sports can serve as a powerful tool in the fight against drug abuse.

He urged young people to actively participate in sports and other constructive activities to stay away from substance abuse and lead a healthy and purposeful life.

The Deputy Commissioner said such initiatives not only promote physical fitness but also help spread awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and encourage youth to adopt a drug-free lifestyle.

He lauded the organisers for promoting sports at the grassroots level and encouraged them to continue holding similar events in the future.

Athar Aamir Khan reiterated the district administration’s commitment to supporting youth-oriented initiatives that promote healthy competition, community participation and the vision of a drug-free society.

The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with players participating in the opening match, extended his best wishes to all teams and urged them to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play throughout the tournament.

The opening ceremony was attended by sports enthusiasts, local youth, organisers and officials, who welcomed the commencement of the tournament with enthusiasm.

The tournament is expected to continue over the coming days and will provide young cricketers from different parts of the Kashmir Division an opportunity to compete, learn and strengthen the spirit of sportsmanship.
