Stakeholder talks begin on J&K Industrial Policy, Ease of Doing Business

Jammu: The committee constituted to review the Ease of Doing Business framework and revise the Industrial Policy for Jammu and Kashmir on Monday held its first meeting with stakeholders at Udyog Bhawan in Jammu.

The meeting was chaired by Shailendra Kumar and attended by committee members Vikramjit Singh and Amitava Chatterjee.

Officials said the interaction marked the first round of stakeholder consultations on revising the existing industrial policy and improving the ease of doing business in the Union Territory. The next round of consultations is scheduled to be held in Kashmir.

Representatives and office bearers of several industrial and trade associations from Jammu division participated in the meeting and gave feedback on a range of issues concerning industry and investment.

The discussions focused on simplification of regulations, reduction in compliance burden, easier access to finance, improvement in infrastructure and measures to attract fresh investment while supporting existing industrial units.

Stakeholders also suggested specific changes to be incorporated in the revised Industrial Policy.

The committee said continuous engagement with stakeholders would remain an important part of the policy formulation process and assured participants that all constructive suggestions would be examined.

It said the forthcoming policy would seek to create a competitive, transparent and investor-friendly environment in Jammu and Kashmir.

Among those present at the meeting were Arun Manhas, Virender Jain, Arun Gupta, M A Alim, Sidhant Choudhary, Rahul Sahai, Manik Batra, Rakesh Bhat, Lalit Mahajan, Rakesh Wazir and Varsha Bansal.
