Asha Bhosle, who redefined playback singing with unmatched versatility, has died at 92

Jammu,: Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad have expressed their grief over the demise of iconic singer Asha Bhosle.

The 92-year-old singer, who ruled Bollywood for over seven decades with her wide range of memorable songs, passed away on Sunday due to multi-organ failure at Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai.

“With Asha Bhosle ji’s passing, the nation mourns a cultural icon whose timeless melodies will resonate in hearts for generations. From immortal songs & soulful ghazals to devotional masterpieces, her voice captivated millions across eras. My condolences to her family & admirers,” LG Sinha said in a post on X.

Azad, former chief minister of J&K, said he was saddened to hear about the passing of Bhosle, a legendary singer known for her unmatched versatility.

“She was one of the most iconic voices in Indian music, leaving behind a rich and timeless legacy in cinema and the music industry. Her songs will continue to inspire generations to come. My heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones. May her soul rest in peace!” Azad said in a post on X.
