It said the government has urged the public to report road accidents to the nearest police station or control room, helping the victims reach the designated hospitals quickly so that timely treatment can be provided under the scheme.

The good Samaritans, a ‘Rah-Veer’, assisting the accident victims will receive ₹25,000 and a Certificate of Appreciation. In case more than one person assists in rescuing the victim, the award amount shall be shared equally among them. In addition, 10 National Level Awards of ₹1,00,000 each will be given annually to the most deserving ‘Rah-Veers’, it said.

The scheme will facilitate immediate medical care to the road accident victims and improve their chances of survival. (KNO)
