Lone, who is the only opposition MLA from Kashmir to move amendments to the LG’s address, has also sought the regularisation of daily wagers which remains a long-pending demand from contractual employees across Jammu and Kashmir.

In a significant proposal for civil service aspirants, Lone has moved to enhance the age limit for open merit candidates appearing in the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) examination from 32 to 37 years. The amendment addresses concerns of youth who have faced disruptions and limited opportunities in recent years.

The three amendments moved by MLA Handwara highlight key concerns affecting Kashmiris both within and outside the Union Territory that range from safety and dignity issues faced by the community in various states to employment security and expanded access to administrative services.
