Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Awantipora and Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson informed that two drug peddlers were held at Padgampora near the CRPF Camp. Identified as Mahasif Wani, son of Masrat Wani resident of Fatehkadal, Srinagar, and Sahil Khokhar, son of Mohammad Ashraf of Pindobal Kokernag, they were arrested after approximately 650 grams of ‘Bung Chura’ (cannabis) was recovered from their possession.
In Budgam, at a checkpoint near Ompora Railway Flyover, police intercepted a vehicle (JK01J-4450) with two persons — Bilal Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Majeed Khan of Bathar Budgam, and Irshad Ahmad Kuchay, son of Ghulam Mohammad Kuchay of Munipappy Budgam– on board. During search, heroin and cannabis-like substances were recovered from their possession, fo9llowi8ng which they were arrested and vehicle seized.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
The drug peddlers were arrested along with heroin in Udhampur and Jammu districts as well, police said.
Manik Oberoi and Sachin Kumar were arrested after 4.23 grams of heroin were recovered from their car during checking at Udhampur’s Rehambal, a police spokesperson said.
He said Oberoi was driving the car when police stopped and subjected the vehicle to checking.
Sunil Choudhary, a resident of Suchetgarh, was arrested after 3.30 grams of heroin was recovered from his car during checking at Chakrohi in RS Pura area of Jammu, he said.
All the three drug peddlers were booked under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and further investigations are on, the spokesperson said.
