3 held for cases of theft in Ganderbal

Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal have solved two cases of theft by apprehending three accused persons, and recovered stolen property from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Saturday.

He said acting on complaints of theft of livestock at Kokagund Sehpora and Hayan Palpora, police during investigation apprehended one Shabir Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat of Arigoripora Kangan.

On sustained questioning, Bhat disclosed that he had purchased six stolen sheep from Momin Bashir Ganie alias Sahil, son of Bashir Ahmad of Gundi Mohalla Sehpora, along with Basit Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad and Hilal alias Huzaib, resident of Pehlipora Safapora near Dumping Park, Kangan.

On his disclosure, six sheep were recovered and subsequently Shabir Ahmad Bhat was arrested. Moreover, accused Momin Bashir was also apprehended and on his disclosure a vehicle (JK04D-0256) was also seized, police said.

Another accused, Ghulam Nabi Dar, son of Mohammad Akbar Dar of Ruhama Pulwama, was also arrested and 15 stolen sheep were recovered on his disclosure. More arrests and recoveries are expected, police said.
