Srinagar: Police in Kupwara have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesperson informed Friday.
He said one Nazir Ahmed Khan, son of Momin Khan of Gonipora Haihama Kupwara, was arrested after a substantial quantity of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the accused was engaged in illicit drug trafficking, police said.
It said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kupwara, and investigation has been initiated.
