  Budgam observes Oral Health Month with district-wide awareness campaign

Budgam: The Health Department Budgam, in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, is observing Oral Health Month across all blocks of the district.

The month-long campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of oral hygiene and its impact on overall health. The initiative involves dental professionals, health workers, and community leaders working together to reach residents throughout the district.

As part of the campaign, various blocks have organized free dental check-ups, awareness camps, and educational sessions.

In Block Beerwah, free dental check-ups and screenings were conducted at the Sub-District Hospital. Oral health awareness camps were also held in several villages, featuring health talks and demonstrations. Block Medical Officer (BMO) Beerwah emphasized the importance of regular brushing, flossing, and dental visits in preventing oral diseases.

In Block Chadoora, a dental health camp at the Block Hospital provided free treatment to patients. School children participated in an awareness program focused on oral hygiene. BMO Chadoora underscored the need for early education on dental care and the role of regular check-ups.

Block Khansahib observed the campaign with a dental screening camp at the Block Hospital and a community outreach program to engage villagers. BMO Khansahib highlighted the benefits of maintaining oral hygiene to prevent tooth decay and gum disease.

In Block Budgam, a dental awareness program at the District Hospital included free dental services for patients. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Budgam, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad, attended the event and stressed the vital link between oral hygiene and overall well-being.

Block Magam organized a dental awareness camp at the Block Hospital, including a health talk for school children. BMO Magam emphasized the importance of building healthy oral habits early in life.

Similarly, Block Khag hosted a free dental screening camp and community outreach events. BMO Khag reiterated the significance of brushing and flossing as daily routines to avoid oral issues.

In Block Chattergam, a dental awareness program at the Block Hospital included free dental check-ups and treatments. BMO Chattergam urged the public to adopt regular dental check-ups and hygiene practices.

Block Nagam also actively participated by holding a dental awareness camp and health talks in schools. BMO Nagam spoke on the long-term benefits of regular oral care and timely treatment.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Nuzhat, Dental Surgeon with the School Health Program Budgam, said,

“Oral health is an integral part of overall health, and it’s essential to educate children about good oral hygiene from an early age. We are working tirelessly to promote awareness among school children and encourage healthy habits.”

She also noted a growing concern, adding, “We are seeing a significant increase in oral health issues among children, including tooth decay and gum diseases. It’s crucial to educate both parents and children about regular dental visits and hygiene to prevent these problems.”

CMO Budgam, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad, participated in several events across the district and lauded the efforts of the health teams in spreading awareness. He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to improving community health through sustained public health initiatives.
