Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddles in Shopian, Kulgam and Budgam districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Monday.
He said in Shopian, at Nagesharan crossing, police intercepted a motorcycle (JK02C-8316). During checking, cannabis powder was recovered from the tool kit of the motorcycle, following which Mohammad Lateef Malik, son of Mohammad Yousuf of Bongam, Shopian, and Tauseef Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Wagey of New Colony, Largam, who were riding it were arrested.
At Khudwani Byepass in Kulam, 2.5 kilograms of cannabis husk-like substance was recovered from Mohammad Amin Bhat, son of Mohammad Abdullah Bhat of Shamsipora, Bijbehara. Bhat was arrested on the spot.
In Budgam, at Rankipora, one Mohammad Saleem Shah, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Shah of Pati Sail Beerwah was arrested on drug trafficking charges.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
