Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA from Pulwama, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra on Tuesday said they have hopes with Omar Abdullah-led government’s first budget, which will be presented by the Chief Minister himself on March 7 in the Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to the news agency KNO, Parra said, “We are hopeful that the budget will be as per the demands of the people, who are seeing popular government after a long time. The government should address their anxieties. The issues of salaries, employees, pensions and bills should be addressed,” he said.
The budget session will begin in Jammu on March 3. This will be the maiden budget session of the elected government in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Earlier, the budget for Jammu and Kashmir was presented in the Parliament after 2019 as the UT was under a prolonged spell of President’s rule, which ended in October last year.
CM Abdullah has held a series of pre-budget consultations with public representatives across Jammu and Kashmir to receive their suggestions, which he said are pivotal for accommodating the public aspirations. (With inputs from KNO)
