At the JKRLM-led initiative, SHG women serve freshly cooked, delicious Dogri Cuisines, especially to tourists who visit from across the nation to witness the grand parade at Octroi Post Suchetgarh, thereby offering them a taste of the Dogri culture.

The festivities featured a blend of traditional and modern activities, including cultural performances, traditional Lohri celebrations, and exhibitions. Stalls showcased the unique crafts, products, and culinary delicacies crafted by members of the SHGs. The event highlighted the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of these women, offering them a platform to share their talents with the broader community.

Speaking on the occasion, Mission Director JKRLM Dr. Shubhra Sharma emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting unity, resilience, and growth among rural women. “The spirit of Lohri is about coming together and celebrating our roots. Today, as we celebrate this festival with our women Self-Help Groups, we not only honour their hard work and dedication but also strengthen our commitment to empowering rural women in Jammu and Kashmir,” the MD said.

He added that empowering women is not just about providing opportunities; it’s about fostering a community where they can support each other and grow together. The participation of women SHGs is a testament to their strength and determination. When women come together, they can achieve remarkable things and today’s celebration is a perfect example of that unity.”

The event brought together numerous SHG members, celebrating the shared goals of empowerment and economic development. JKRLM reaffirmed its commitment to creating opportunities and nurturing the growth of rural women entrepreneurs.

The Lohri celebrations served as a reminder of the Mission’s vision of fostering self-reliance and enhancing livelihoods in rural Jammu and Kashmir. The energy, enthusiasm, and camaraderie displayed by the participants underscored the transformative impact of women’s collective efforts and the enduring significance of community festivals.
