DC Kupwara reviews progress of Sheep Husbandry Department

KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today held a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress of the Sheep Husbandry department in the district.

It was informed in the meeting that 3184 applications under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) have been approved by the Sheep Husbandry department through the HADP portal. Under DAKSH Kisan portal, 8000 registrations were made out of which 3125 farmer beneficiaries were enrolled for undergoing the learning course and 2067 farmers have completed the course so far.

It was also informed that a target of 6550 beneficiaries for completion of courses under DAKSH Kisan have been given to 13 Sheep Blocks of district Kupwara which include Gulgam, Handwara, Kralgund, Kralpora, Kuligam, Kupwara, Machil/Kalaroose, Rajwar, Ramhall, Shartpora, Sogam, Tangdar and Teetwal.

On the occasion, the DC stressed upon the concerned officers to gear up the pace of enrolment of farmers to achieve the desired targets under DAKSH Kisan and HADP. The officers were directed to facilitate the registration and enrollment of farmers to meet the targets as early as possible. She impressed upon the officers to ensure 100% coverage of the HADP scheme adding that district Kupwara has a vast potential for agriculture and allied activities which will boost its employment generation scenario.

Meanwhile, the Officers were directed to mobilize field staff and Krishi Udayamis to achieve these targets in a time-bound manner and support farmers throughout the registration and certification process.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Kupwara, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Kupwara, Block Sheep Husbandry Officers and other concerned.
