MY Bharat J&K hosts Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament at J&K Legislative Assembly

Jammu: Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) J&K, under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, on Tuesday organised the UT round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament at the J&K Legislative Assembly, bringing together young participants from across the Union Territory to deliberate on issues linked to the country’s future.

The event featured winners of the district-level round, who spoke on the theme, “Union Budget 2026: Strengthening the Indian Youth’s Path Towards Viksit Bharat 2047.”

The programme was chaired by Javed Rana, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology and Environment, and Tribal Affairs, who highlighted the importance of youth participation in nation-building. He said the youth of Jammu and Kashmir have a vital role in shaping the vision of a developed India and that their ideas and perspectives are crucial to the country’s future.

A distinguished jury comprising MLA Ramgarh Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Sunaina Mehta, Principal Revenue Training Institute Jammu, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, former member of JKPSC and former Head of Geography Department at Amar Singh College Srinagar, Prof. Tariq Ahmad Shah, former Professor and Head of Plant Pathology at SKUAST Srinagar, and journalist-writer Simranjeet Singh evaluated the performances of the participants.

Among the dignitaries present were Manoj Kumar Pandita, Secretary, J&K Legislative Assembly; Nisar Ahmad Butt, State Director, MY Bharat J&K; Nitin, Deputy Director, MY Bharat Rajouri; Khushal Gupta, Deputy Director, MY Bharat Jammu; and Dr. Gurpreet Kour, Programme Officer, NSS GCW Parade.

Participants shared their views on the Union Budget 2026 and discussed its implications for India’s development trajectory, with a particular focus on youth empowerment and the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.

At the conclusion of the event, Amit Katoch was adjudged the winner, while Hemanya Puri and Bhavna Sharma secured second and third positions respectively. The winners will now represent the Union Territory in the national round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament.

The event aimed to empower young people, encourage their participation in nation-building and provide a platform for them to share ideas and contribute to India’s development journey.
