CJ visits Muskan ‘Home for Children’ at Channi Rama; reviews facilities

JAMMU: Aiming enhanced care and protection of children residing in various Child Care Institutions across the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority, Tashi Rabstan today visited Muskan, Home for Children at Channi Rama, Jammu.

He was accompanied by Amit Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority and Ansuya Jamwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Jammu, who also serves as Executive Secretary, District Red Cross Society, Jammu.

During the visit, the Chief Justice interacted with the children and distributed sweets and gifts among them. This interaction provided an opportunity to understand the children’s living conditions and their specific needs.

Chief Justice Tashi interacted with the staff members of the Children’s Home and issued directions for enhancing the amenities and facilities being provided to the inmates. He emphasised the importance of a supportive and nurturing environment for the holistic development of the children.

The ADC Jammu assured the Chief Justice that the suggestions for improvement would be implemented promptly. She highlighted the current facilities being provided at the Children’s Home, which included regular medical check-ups, special education classes facilitated under Samagra Shiksha initiative and physical and motor development activities organised by the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Jammu. Additionally, weekly visits by physiotherapists and psychologists are being conducted to ensure the mental and physical well-being of children, reflecting a comprehensive approach towards their care and development.

The Chief Justice appreciated the efforts of the administration and staff in ensuring the welfare of the children. He commended their commitment to addressing any shortcomings and called for continued efforts to uphold the dignity and rights of the children residing there.

This visit underscores the commitment of the judiciary and the J&K Legal Services Authority to safeguard the welfare of vulnerable sections of society and ensure that their needs are met with compassion and care.
