Srinagar: Authorities on Monday said that Mughal road will likely be thrown open for traffic movement tomorrow, if weather conditions remain favourable.
The officials said that the Mechanical Engineering Department has completed the process of snow clearance from both ends of the stretch.
“The necessary work for snow clearance on Mughal road up to Pir Ki Gali from Poonch side is done. Earlier on Sunday evening, the authorities cleared the snow up to Pir Ki Gali from the Shopian side,” the officials said.
This vital road connecting twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch with Kashmir Valley was closed on Friday after fresh snowfall.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Surankote, Farooq Khan Nazki said that Mughal Road is expected to be thrown open for traffic on Tuesday if the weather remains clear.
“The accumulated snow on the road has been cleared up to Pir Ki Gali, and we are expecting restoration of the road by tomorrow morning, depending upon the clear weather conditions,” the SDM said.
