Srinagar: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, on Sunday, said that false and misleading propaganda against Apni Party led to its defeat in the assembly elections.

However, he asserted that “those who misled the people and secured votes through unattainable promises and emotional sloganeering will soon be exposed, as they will fail to deliver on their poll commitments.” He added, “Over time, people will realise that those who secured votes by making grand promises will be unable to fulfill them, both on political and economic fronts, simply because their commitments were neither realistic nor achievable.”

Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari made these remarks today while addressing a party workers’ convention in north Kashmir’s Uri constituency.

The event was attended by party leaders and senior workers from across the constituency. Prominent party leaders, including the party’s District President for Baramulla, Shabir Ahmad Shah; District Vice President Baramulla Mehmood Bukhari; the party in-charge for the Uri constituency, Choudhary Mushtaq; and all block presidents from Uri, were present on the occasion.

The event was aimed to deliberate on certain party matters, review the current political scenario, and address important public issues and grievances.

Speaking on the occasion, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari urged the leaders and workers from the constituency to continue their sincere efforts to serve the people.

He said, “Our commitment is to uphold the politics of honesty and integrity for the greater good of the people, and we are in politics to serve the people. Time will prove that the Apni Party’s agenda, which was outlined on its inception day —March 8, 2020, is deeply rooted in a realistic approach. There is no doubt that August 5, 2019, was a black day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. On this day, our dignity, special status, and rights were taken away. It deeply pained our hearts, and it continues to hurt us.”

He added, “However, the politics of truthfulness and realism teaches us to move forward with dreams of a better future. We cannot afford to keep the future of our youth and coming generations hanging in uncertainty or continue wailing on the events of August 5. Reality might be bitter and not politically beneficial, but Apni Party is committed to always speaking the truth.”

He went on to say, “Unlike our political opponents, we do not believe in selling false dreams for our personal or political gains. We focus solely on achievable goals. After August 5, 2019, we ensured that the people of J&K retain their special rights to land and jobs here. If no one has been able to purchase land or secure a job here in the past five years, it is solely because of our efforts. That was our contribution. And we will continue to strive to protect the rights of the people.”

Reaffirming his demands and aspirations, he said, “The detainees must be released and given a chance to live a normal life with their families. We want our youth to prosper and have a brighter future. This is the time when each one of us must strive for a better and brighter future for Jammu and Kashmir and its people. Apni Party will remain committed to this cause.”

Regarding the government, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, “Since this government has recently taken over, we do not identify its faults and failures. However, as time passes, we will raise our voice against the failures of this government and continue highlighting the pressing public issues and grievances.”

He stressed that “the government and ruling party should not indulge in revenge politics and should not make those who disagree with their ideology or policies suffer.”

He said, “It is true that the NC has regained power after about 15 years, but that does not mean it will resort to taking revenge on its political opponents.”

Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari urged the party leaders and workers to rejuvenate themselves and start their sincere efforts to serve the people in their respective areas of the constituency.
