KU organizes first commerce alumni meet

Srinagar: To celebrate the achievements of its alumni, the Department of Commerce, University of Kashmir (KU), organized its first Commerce Alumni Meet, marking an important milestone in the department’s history.

The event saw the participation of prominent figures from various fields, including literature, administration, industry, business, and academia.

The distinguished speakers included Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah, former incharge VC CUK, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Nazir, former Dean School of Business Studies and Head of Department of Commerce KU, Prof. Abdul Gani, former Head of Management Studies CUK and Mr Arif Ahmad Shah (JKPS), SSP

“Our alma mater has been instrumental in our growth and now, it’s time for us to give back by staying connected,” said Prof. Farooq.

Guests and alumni shared their professional journeys and highlighted the pivotal role of the Department of Commerce in shaping their successful careers.

A key highlight of the event was the formation of the Commerce Alumni Association with Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah as president.

“This association will not only strengthen our bond but also nurture collaboration and growth in both academic and professional spheres,” Prof. Shah remarked.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Head of Department of Commerce, Prof. Mohi-ud-din Sangmi stressed on the importance of creating a platform where alumni can reconnect, share resources and support each other in academic and professional pursuits.

“This platform will help us build stronger ties with alumni and contribute to the growth of the department,” he said.

The proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr. Syed Parvez Ahmad Shah, faculty, Department of Commerce KU, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sabiya Mufti, faculty, Department of Commerce KU.
