Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Sat Sharma Thursday termed the National Conference’s special status resolution as “constitutionally illegal” and accused the Speaker of Legislative Assembly Abdur Rahim Rather of being partisan
Speaking at a seminar titled “Unconstitutional Resolution,” organized by the BJP’s Legal Cell at the party headquarters in Jammu, Sharma criticized the manner in which the resolution was passed.
“The resolution was passed after Speaker directed for throwing out all BJP MLAs from the House. No matter how many times the NC passes a resolution calling for the restoration of Article 370, the fact remains that the decision to revoke it was made by the Prime Minister of India, and it is final,” Sharma asserted.
The J& BJP chief reiterated that the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, marked a decisive moment in Jammu and Kashmir’s political history. He commended Prime Minister Modi for taking bold steps that transformed the region’s political landscape, stating that the changes initiated on that day were beyond reversal.
“Under the leadership of PM Modi, Jammu and Kashmir has experienced a profound transformation,” Sharma said. “Not only has peace been restored, but marginalized communities such as the West Pakistani Refugees and Valmikis have also received long-awaited justice through the extension of their voting rights.”
