Srinagar: While Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department has officially referred 575 lecturer (s) posts to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) for direct quota recruitment, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party has described the issue as a shocker.

Officials said that the break-up of these posts have been listed as per the SRO-294 dated 21.10.2005, S.O. 305 of 2024, and S.O. 176 of 2024.

Reports said that the vacancies have been categorized across various reservation quotas, including specific provisions for socially and economically disadvantaged groups, as well as horizontal reservations for persons with disabilities in compliance with Government Order No. 59-JK(SWD) of 2021.

The breakdown of the reservations includes categories like RBA, ST, EWS, ALC, and OBC, with a mandated 4% horizontal reservation for persons with disabilities. The eligibility criteria and application process will be announced soon by the JKPSC.

The school education department has requested the JKPSC to initiate the selection process promptly, ensuring adherence to reservation rules and transparency in recruitment.

Meanwhile, JKPDP described the initiative as another shocker.

“Another day, another shocker! Out of 575 lecturer posts referred to JKPSC for recruitment, only 238 are for open merit students, while 337 are reserved. This injustice needs to stop! Fail to understand why is the NC led govt continuing with BJP introduced reservation policy? Requesting @OmarAbdullah sb to revamp the new reservation policy strictly as per population numbers,” JKPDP’s Waheed Parra wrote on X.
