Crackdown on traffic violators continues in Bla: Rs 365,000 collected in fines

Baramulla: Enforcement efforts against traffic violators have persisted for ten days in Baramulla district.

The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) of Baramulla, along with his team, has led several enforcement drives over this period. These efforts have resulted in the seizure of 12 cabs and 8 motorcycles, the issuance of challans to 296 vehicles, and the collection of Rs 365,000 in penalties.

More than 50 drivers have received show-cause notices for the suspension of their driving licenses, and 20 licenses have been suspended thus far.

The enforcement drives were conducted in the towns of Sopore, Baramulla, and Tangmarg, as well as on the National Highway near Tapper Pattan.

ARTO Muazzam Ali stated that these enforcement activities have been intensified under the directives of senior officers in the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) and will continue in other towns of the district, including Uri and Rafiabad.

Highlighting the loss of numerous lives in recent road accidents, he urged motorcyclists to wear helmets and ride cautiously, and he appealed to all drivers to adhere to traffic regulations.
