Karnah: Residents of the Chamkote area in Karnah staged a significant protest on Sunday, blocking the Tanghdar-Teetwal NH701 road for hours in response to a severe drinking water shortage that has plagued the community for several days.

Men, women, and children gathered on the highway to express their frustration and demand immediate action from the authorities. The protestors chanted slogans against the Jal Shakti Department and the local administration, criticizing their perceived indifference to the residents’ plight.

“We are facing an acute shortage of drinking water, and it feels like no one is listening to our pleas,” said one woman protestor, encapsulating the widespread sentiment of neglect. The crisis, exacerbated by the scorching heat, has driven the residents to desperate measures, impacting daily life significantly.

Women, in particular, have borne the brunt of the shortage, struggling to manage essential household tasks without sufficient water.

The protestors urged authorities to urgently address the water crisis that has left the area parched for months. In response, administrative officials visited the protest site and assured the residents that the issue would be addressed without delay.
