GDA spearheads initiatives for ‘Sustainable Tourism & Local Engagement’

BARAMULLA: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) presided over a meeting at the GDA office in Tangmarg, focusing on a plantation drive, beautification of Gulmarg, and the promotion of homestays to foster eco-friendly tourism.

The meeting delved into a multitude of issues concerning the preservation and enhancement of Gulmarg’s natural beauty and its transformation into an eco-friendly tourist destination.

Furthermore, extensive discussions were held regarding the development of the Drung tourist destination and its surrounding areas, emphasizing the holistic growth of Gulmarg’s tourism ecosystem.

The CEO emphasized the importance of collaboration among officials to discover novel attractions that would not only draw tourists to Gulmarg but also to its neighbouring regions. Model policies concerning homestays were deliberated upon, with a strong emphasis on coordination with local stakeholders eager to provide homestay accommodations for tourists.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Tangmarg, Wildlife Warden of North Division, DFO Social Forestry Baramulla, District Floriculture Officer, Assistant Director of Tourism in Gulmarg, Assistant Executive Engineer of R&B Sub-Division Gulmarg, and noted Environmental Lawyer Nadeem Qadri.
