Kashmir’s boat tragedy; search continues for the missing

Srinagar: The ongoing search operation to retrieve the bodies of three missing persons, including a father-son duo and another minor boy, entered 8th day today.

As locals from the Gandbal area remain hopeful that the bodies of missing persons would be traced, they have urged the administration to deploy deep divers for the job.

An official present at the spot informed that the operation led by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), has been continuing for the missing bodies of Showkat Ahmad, his son Haziq Showkat, and another minor boy, Farhan Parray. Despite eight days of continuous efforts, no traces of the missing persons have been found so far, he said.

“We are continuously searching Jhelum all the way from Gandbal to Sonwar, and no traces of the missing persons have been found so far,” ASI SDRF Abdul Rashid said, adding that multiple boats have been deployed in the river.

The official also informed that the search operation has extended to areas like Chattab Weir and Rajbagh, but so far without any success. (KNO)
