Junaid Rather selected for prestigious International Theatre Residency

Anantnag: In a proud moment for the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, Junaid Rather, a talented theatre artist, has been selected for the esteemed South Asian Theatre Association’s (SATA) International Theatre Residency in Sri Lanka.

Scheduled for May 2024, Junaid will represent India as a facilitator, showcasing his exceptional skills on the global stage.

Junaid, a postgraduate in Acting from the renowned National School of Drama, New Delhi (Batch 2018-23), hails from the picturesque Anantnag District in Jammu and Kashmir. His journey in theatre commenced at the young age of fourteen, and since then, he has garnered numerous national awards, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the field.

With a deep-seated passion for theatre and a wealth of expertise, Junaid is poised to make a significant impact on the theatrical landscape, particularly in his native Kashmir. His selection for the international residency is a testament to his talent and dedication, offering a beacon of hope for the region’s burgeoning theatre scene.

There is palpable anticipation for the UT Government of Jammu and Kashmir to recognize and support Junaid’s endeavours, leveraging his skills to nurture emerging talent and revitalize the theatre culture in the valley.
