Woman found in Sumbal belonged to Srinagar: Official

Srinagar: The body of a woman recovered along river Jhelum in the Sumbal area in Bandipora has been identified, an official said.

The official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that the body of a woman was spotted by some people in the Sumbal area on Saturday afternoon.

“The body was lifted from the site for identification and necessary medico-legal formalities,” the official said adding after due process the body was found to be of one Khatija Begum, wife of Abdul Rehman Bhat of Kanidewar Nowhatta in Srinagar.

“The body has been handed over to the respective family for last rites,” the official said further.
