Srinagar: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession, a police spokesperson informed Friday.
He said at a checkpoint established at Sultanpora, intercepted and later arrested one Shabir Ahmad Malla, son of Mohammad Dilawar Malla, resident of Sultanpora, after 105 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession. A case has been registered in this regard.
Spokesperson also informed that police in Baramulla have registered 24 cases under NDPS Act, arrested 39 drug peddlers, including 3 “hard-core peddlers” who have been booked under PIT NDPS PSA, district during the month of January-2024. Police have also recovered contraband substances worth lacs (value of contraband in black market).
