Srinagar: Police arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Monday.
He said in Kulgam, police raided the residential house of one Mashooq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Qadir Sheikh at Khudwani, Qaimoh, and recovered 161 kgs of grinded cannabis-like contraband substance Rs one lakh in cash — believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime. Shiekh was arrested and a case registered, police said.
At a checkpoint at Manigam on NHW-44, police intercepted one Gul Mohammad Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar of Churat and recovered 4.3 kgs of poppy straw-like contraband substance from his possession. He too was arrested and a case registered.
In Chennad Baramulla, one Showkat Ahmad Guroo, son of Ghulam Ahmad, resident of Naidkhai Hajin, was arrested after 70 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession, police said.
