Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal claimed Tuesday to have arrested four rustlers and recovered 16 stolen sheep from their possession.

On September 22, Police Station Lar received a written complaint from one Mohammad Iqbal Thekri of Kathua, presently putting up at Yangoora Lar, stating therein that few days ago, during the night hours some unknown thieves had barged into his cowshed and had stolen 16 sheep, police spokesperson said.

He said after registering a case, during investigation, police apprehended four persons — Mudasir Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Rasool Dar; Shabir Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Khaliq Mir, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir, all residents of Ari Goripora Kangan, and Riyaz Ahmad Damiyal, son of Mohammad Shafi Damiyal of Gund Aku.

During questioning, they admitted their involvement in the crime and on their disclosure, 16 stolen sheep were recovered. The accused persons have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody, police said.
