Assailant held in Ganderbal student attack case

Srinagar: Police have arrested the person involved in an alleged attack on a student at Qamariya Park Ganderbal, police spokesman informed Friday.

Sharing details, he said Thursday later afternoon a scuffle broke out between two persons at Qamariya Park Ganderbal wherein one Mohammad Irfan (student), son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh of Saloora Ganderbal, was injured after he was attacked by another person with a sharp object/thread cutter.

The injured was promptly shifted to the District Hospital Ganderbal for immediate medical attention, police said.

During subsequent investigation, police came to know that one Abrar Ahmad Parray, son of Mohammad Ismail Parray of Rangil Nagbal had attacked the victim with a sharp object and fled from the spot.

A case (FIR No. 271/2023) was registered in Police Station Ganderbal, following which a special police team was constituted which apprehended the accused at the Nagbal Chowk, police said.
