Director Agri visits farms of progressive farmers in Harwan Srinagar

SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, today visited farms of different progressive farmers in the Harwan area of Srinagar and interacted with them.

While interacting with the farmers, the Director of Agriculture highlighted the importance of integrated farming and said that the future belongs to developed, vibrant, multi-dimensional agriculture and allied sector, and integrated farming could help this achieve.

The Director of Agriculture said that the department is working on a strategy wherein the farmers are educated to adopt an integrated approach for their farms so that they could get maximum out of it in terms of business and profit.

He assured the farmers of every possible technical support from the department whenever and wherever they need it.

Chowdhary Iqbal said that they are working for the transformation of the farming sector and transformation does not mean increasing productivity, but socio-economic transformation and empowerment. “We are endeavouring to convert our farmer into an agri-preneur,” he added.

Director Agriculture Kashmir was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, Manohar Lal Sharma and other senior officers of the department.
