Srinagar: LED lights have been installed on twin tracks leading to Amarnath cave shrine following the commissioning of a distribution transformer at about 3600 meters altitude near Brarimarg on the Baltal axis.

Chief Engineer, Kashmir Power Distribution Ltd (KPDCL), Javed Dar said the work of installing LED lights on the Sonmarg-Panchtarni and Pahalgam-Panchtarni routes was completed before the Yatra commenced on July 1.

He said LED lights are installed every year en route to the Amarnath cave shrine and removed immediately after the Yatra concludes.

While LED lights using grid supply are being installed on the Baltal axis, an outdoor solar lighting system was set up on the Pahalgam-Chandanwari route, Dar told ‘Kashmir Images’.

He said the distribution transformer was commissioned successfully at about 3600 meters altitude near Brarimarg on the Baltal axis.

The LED lights, he said, were set up on both tracks including Baltal base camp and Pahalgam so that the pilgrims don’t face any difficulty during the Yatra.

“LED lights were installed right from Pahalgam to Chandanwari, Sheshnag and then Panchtarni to the holy cave, while on the Baltal axis, a similar setup is from Baltal to Domail and Garimarg to the holy cave,” he added.

Dar also said the electricity to the police and other security forces camps on the way to the Amarnath cave shrine will be supplied from the main grid.
