More than 10k youth provided employment since last one & half year: CEO Mission Youth

KULGAM: The District Administration Kulgam in collaboration with Mission Youth today organised a ‘Mega Youth Festival’ at the sprawling lawns of mini-secretariat Kulgam.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of youth and members from youth clubs, students, civil society members, and employees from across the district.

Secretary Tribal Affairs and CEO Mission Youth, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary who was Chief Guest on the occasion expressed satisfaction over the meticulous arrangements being taken by the Kulgam district administration to engage youth in various activities and congratulated the administration for promoting tourist places and showcasing cultural heritage of the district.

He said, “Kulgam youth have excelled in various fields and youth engagement is tremendous in the district.”

The District Development Council Chairperson Kulgam, Mohammad Afzal Parrey also addressed the huge gathering and expressed concern of the magnitude of Social evils, including the drug menace, and sought a pledge from all youth present to be messengers of social change and commit towards the socio-economic betterment of the society.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat welcomed all the participants and expressed gratitude for their enthusiastic participation in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, DC informed that the District Administration is taking all possible measures to popularize the schemes of Mission Youth so that more and more youth can be engaged in productive activities.

He further added that Youth Clubs, comprising more than 800 members in the district have been revitalized and will be equipped with Grants in Aid and Credit Linkage, which will further provide momentum to the campaign of Empowerment of Youth. 

The day-long festival also marked with Scintillating Cultural performances, Stage Dramas, Nukkad Naatak from famous artists on various issues of concern for Youth including Drug Menace.

SSP Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal, ADDC, Showkat Hussain Rather, ADC, Vikar Ahmad Giri, DDC/BDC members, Sectoral/district officers of various departments, and officials were also present.
