Srinagar: Police in Budgam arrested a person within six hours after he had allegedly robbed a woman of her mobile phone.
Police spokesman said that Police Station Khag received a complaint from a woman stating that an unknown person stopped her while walking from her native village to Hardusuresh Khag, and threatened her and tried to snatch her wallet. Even as the woman resisted, the robber managed to snatch her mobile phone (Redmi 6) and fled from the spot.
A case (FIR No. 01/2023) was registered under relevant sections of law, and during subsequent investigations, a police team managed to arrested the accused — Muzaffar Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani, resident of Peth Sharan Khag — within six hours of the crime. On his disclosure, the snatched mobile phone was also recovered. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody, police said.
