Srinagar: Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai Wednesday informed the Rajya Sabha that out of 177 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) personnel, who were killed in the line of duty from 2019 to 2021, 73 lost their lives in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Rai said that 177 CAPFs personnel have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty in the last three years.

He said out of these a maximum of 73 personnel lost their lives in J&K, followed by 27 in Chhattisgarh.

Among the 73, he said, 49 were from CRPF, one from SSB, who were killed in 2019.

He said 20 including a BSF trooper were killed in 2020 and 3 CRPF personnel were killed in 2021.
