Sunderbani: Congress has demanded immediate assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that BJP is planning to delay the same under the garb of PRI elections by preponing them.

Addressing Congress workers here today who had assembled to celebrate the victory of the party in Himachal Pradesh, JKPCC Senior Leader and Former MLC Ravinder Sharma said that congress is ready for early assembly elections to restore the much-awaited democracy in J&K, but apprehended that BJP might delay the same by the preponing panchayat and local bodies elections, which have around a year to complete the term.

“The administration has already started preparations as per field reports and the unexpected defeat of BJP in Himachal would be added factor,” he added.

The Congress workers held celebrations at Sunderbani and Nowshera today over the victory of the party in the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections.

Congress workers of Block Sunderbani and Nowshera held separate celebrations under the leadership of Senior Congress Leader and former MLC Ravinder Sharma which was attended by the Block Presidents and other local functionaries and Youth Congress activists.

The workers distributed sweets and raised slogans of Gonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, AICC President Malika Arjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi and congratulated the leadership and people of Himachal Pradesh.

Ravinder Sharma expressed gratitude to the people of Himachal Pradesh and congratulated the party workers there for working hard to defeat BJP. He appreciated the central leadership for the coordinated efforts to win the elections against huge odds including in the by-elections in different states.

He said that BJP had a secret understanding with certain parties to divide the opposition votes in Gujrat and created media hype to confuse the voters for indirect gains but the congress has more than 27 percent vote share in Gujrat too.

He asked the workers to understand the pulse of people who want change as the masses are fed up with the anti-poor and anti-youth policies of the Modi government which has gifted unprecedented price hikes and record unemployment besides corruption in recruitment. He said that the congress will emerge victorious in J&K and form the government as and when elections are held, demanding early assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir without delay.
