3 drug-peddlers arrested

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three drug-peddlers in Baramulla and Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Baramulla, a police party during routine checking at Dargam crossing Pattan intercepted two suspicious persons. During checking, 29 kgs of poppy straw-like substance were recovered from their possession.

The two persons identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, and Bashir Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Razzaq Dar, both residents of Sheer Colony Sopore, have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

In Ganderbal, a police party during patrolling at Zazuna arrested a suspicious person. During the search, Codeine Phosphate bottles were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Shahijahan Parra, son of Nazir Ahmad Parra, resident of Zazuna. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigation has been initiated.
