SRINAGAR: As part of the ongoing Jan Abhiyan, Secretary Tourism, Sarmad Hafeez, today chaired a meeting regarding the tourism department functioning in Kashmir.

Director Tourism Kashmir, MD JKTDC, Director SKICC, MD Cable Car Corporation, Chief Executive Officers of Tourism Development Authorities in Kashmir, and other concerned officers and officials of the Tourism department Kashmir participated in the meeting.

While Jammu-based officers including Chief Executive Officers of Tourism Development Authorities in Jammu participated online in the meeting.

Secretary, while addressing the meeting, laid emphasis on the identification of 75 new offbeat tourism destinations in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. In this regard, he directed the officers to put in place all necessary preparations in synergy with other line departments for developing tourism-friendly infrastructure.

Secretary asked the officials to ensure the complete involvement of local youth, members of PRIs, and civil society towards utilising the full potential of the said identified tourist destinations. He also asked all the stakeholders to work in tandem to ensure that the set targets are achieved in full.

Secretary had a detailed review of the implementation of various programmes being executed by the Tourism department in Kashmir. He asked the officers to efficiently promote and propagate the people-oriented government policies and programmes which ultimately will result in creating job opportunities and youth engagement avenues at the grassroots level.
