DGP chairs high-level joint security review meeting at PCR Kashmir

Srinagar: The Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh, today presided over a high-level joint meeting of officers to review the overall security scenario of Srinagar and districts of South Kashmir at Police Control Room Kashmir here this afternoon.

According to the police spokesperson, Spl DGP CID, J&K R.R Swain, IG CRPF Ops Kashmir, M.S Bhatia, IG CRPF Srinagar Ops Sector, Charu Sinha, ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, IGP Hqr, B. S Tuti, DIG CKR/SKR Sujit Kumar, SSP Srinagar, Rakesh Balwal and AIG (Training and Policy) JS Johar attended the meeting.

“Addressing the meeting, the DGP appreciated the joint efforts of J&K Police and other security forces in conducting various successful anti-terror operations adding that we have to augment and enhance of capabilities to achieve our targets. The DGP emphasized revisiting the city and south Kashmir security grid plans and said that we must continue to deal strictly with elements involved in misguiding our youth and pushing them towards terrorism. He directed the officers to strengthen area domination and night patrolling in grey areas. The DGP stressed placing the surprise Nakas and ambushes to check any suspect movement. He directed the use of modern gadgets including drones and CCTVs for area domination,” the spokesperson said.

“The DGP stressed identifying the gaps if any for desired results. He directed Jurisdictional officers to ensure the supervision of the Nakas and deployments on a regular basis. The DGP directed for conducting the joint security meeting at the District levels for executing the strategies. He also emphasized adopting preventive measures to restrict the movement of anti-peace elements,” he said.

The spokesperson further said: “He directed that forces maintain pressure on anti-nation elements so that terror groups don’t get any chance of revival. The DGP impressed upon the officers, to work out strategies to further consolidate peace in Jammu Kashmir adding that in the process forces have to ensure that civilians do not face any inconvenience. Stressing for remaining more vigilant against terror support networks that are helping terrorists to carry out their nefarious designs, the DGP directed for putting in utmost efforts to ensure terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.”

“During the meeting, a threadbare discussion regarding the terror crimes in the valley was held and the officers present in the meeting gave suggestions regarding anti-terror operations and strengthening peace further in J&K,” he said.

“The DIG CKR apprised the DGP regarding the area domination in Srinagar City as also in districts of South Kashmir for effective surveillance of anti-peace elements through a PowerPoint presentation,” he added.
