Govt Degree College Baramulla celebrates Media Festival

Baramulla: The Department of Media Studies of Government Degree College Baramulla on Saturday celebrated the Media Festival “Showcasing the talent of future communicators”.

The media festival was celebrated after a long gap of nearly four years and was attended by students of the media departments of Govt College for Women M A Road Srinagar, Govt Degree College Anantnag, Kashmir University, Cluster University Srinagar, and students from different higher secondary schools of Baramulla district.

During the day-long media festival, around 10 films made by the students of GDC Baramulla under the supervision of faculty members were screened. In the photography exhibition, pictures, sketches, calligraphy, and poetry posters of the students on various themes were displayed, Skit performances on media and social issues were also part of the festival.

In the inaugural address, Head of Department (HOD) Media Studies GDC Baramulla Dr Danish Nabi said that the media festival aims to provide a platform for the budding journalists of the institute to showcase their talent in front of Juries.

Principal GDC Baramulla, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Rather was the Chief Guest along with Vice principal Dr.Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, and faculty members from different media colleges of the valley, juries including Showket Nanda were part of the event.

A prize distribution ceremony was also held following the screening of the movies and skits.
