Pr Secy SDD, VC IUST inaugurate newly constructed Govt Polytechnic College at Awantipora

AWANTIPORA: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon inaugurated the newly constructed Government Polytechnic College here in presence of Vice-Chancellor (VC), Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo.

The campus has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 19 crore and has been completed recently.

After inaugurating the college, the Principal Secretary observed that some machinery and equipment have already been installed in the lab and directed the IUST representatives of the college to install the remaining machinery and equipment immediately.

The Principal Secretary further instructed the college representatives to ensure 100% admission besides apprenticeship with Industry for better placement of pass outs should also be looked into. He highlighted that the college being centrally located shall be made as a placement hub keeping in view the industry requirements of the area.

Dr. Samoon also stressed to representatives of the college that various government initiatives aimed at the promotion of skill and talent in universities and colleges across J&K should be publicized regularly so that maximum youth are attracted to them. He added that government is determined to make all universities in Jammu and Kashmir successful skill hubs of innovation.

Talking about the importance of skill-based learning, the Principal Secretary instructed the Director SDD that strenuous efforts should be made to build highly sophisticated skills in students across all institutions in J&K.
