J&K records 276 new COVID-19 cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir registered 276 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours which pushed the cumulative infection tally to 4,76,044, officials said here Sunday.

While 235 fresh cases were reported from the Kashmir valley, 41 cases were reported from Jammu division, they said.

Providing district-wise breakup for these positive cases, the officials informed that in Kashmir division, Srinagar district reported 100 cases, Baramulla reported 52 cases, Budgam 25 cases, Kupwara reported 24 cases, Kulgam reported 11 cases, Anantnag reported eight cases, Pulwama reported seven cases, Bandipora reported five cases, and Shopian reported three fresh cases today.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu reported 27 cases, Kathua five, Doda three, Udhampur two while no other district from the division reported any fresh cases today.

The death toll due to the virus remained unchanged at 4,779 as no new fatality linked to the pandemic was reported in the last 24 hours. So far 4,779 persons have succumbed to the viral infection in J&K; of these 2,432 persons have died in Kashmir division and 2,347 in Jammu division.

Currently there are 2,597 active COVID-19 cases in the Union Territory — 2,149 in Kashmir and 448 in Jammu division — while the number of recoveries has reached 4,68,668, they added. This also includes 589 COVID-19 patients who were discharged from various hospitals — 519 from Kashmir and 70 from Jammu division – in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

The officials also informed that 11,161 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours across Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far to 2,40,82,212.

India logs 11,539 Covid cases

India on Sunday recorded 11,539 fresh coronavirus infections that pushed its tally to 4,43,39,429, while the number of active cases came down to 99,879, according to Union health ministry data.

The toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 5,27,332 with 34 fatalities, including nine deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.23 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.59 percent, the ministry said.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.75 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 3.88 percent, the ministry said.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,37,12,218, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.19 percent, it said.

So far, 209.67 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive, it added.

A total of 88.24 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far, with 3,07,680 conducted in the last 24 hours.

The 25 new deaths include nine from Delhi, four from Karnataka, three each from Rajasthan and Gujarat, and two each from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
