Amit Sharma discusses road map for automation of mining operations

JAMMU: Secretary, Mining Department, Amit Sharma today convened a meeting to discuss the road map for full automation of mining operations in J&K in consonance with the UT Government’s goal to make all services transparent, online and paperless in the shortest possible time. 

As a prelude to upcoming Digital Week celebrations, the Mining Secretary presided over a comprehensive meeting with all stakeholders in this behalf which included O.P Bhagat, Director Geology & Mining J&K; Nisar Ahmed; Joint Director Kashmir, Harbans Lal Langeh; Joint Director Jammu, industry association heads, Harbaksh Singh; NIC expert and other IT experts from outside J&K.

During the meeting, Secretary Mining Amit Sharma laid thrust on creation of total automation and online solutions with the objective of making human interventions NIL in the Mining Department wherein Director Geology and Mining informed that Government e-Marketplace for sale and purchase of minor minerals including RBM and other materials is at the verge of launch whereas work is going-on in full swing towards creation of portals and apps for creating a-Challan system, automated weighbridge operations and submission of online returns by all concerned stakeholders.

Secretary Mining expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved in introducing digital reforms in the department over the past some time, yet he mentioned that in order to curb the menace of illegal mining, latest technologies in terms of drone, Artificial Intelligence, RAS, Aadhaar Authentication and creation smart check posts should be pressed into action and Director should submit a comprehensive proposal in this behalf to the Government in a week’s time.

It was decided that a task force led by Joint Director Geology & Mining Jammu shall focus along with NIC and Digitization teams for creation of total automation system in Mining which shall be reviewed by Secretary Mining on a weekly basis.

It was concluded in the meeting that automation was the only solution to counter all kinds of challenges looming Mining Sector and Amit Sharma assured that the Government shall proactively support all initiatives being taken in this behalf by the department.
