The teams conducted checking of various establishments including meat shops, poultry, vegetable shops, bakery and other essentials in all the markets of the district. Furthermore, SSP Kulgam appealed the concerned authorities to ensure that the government-approved rates for sacrificial animals are implemented in letter and spirit without any deviations so that people do not get fleeced,” the spokesperson said.

“The checking officers directed the shopkeepers to keep government-approved rate lists displayed in their shops and warned strict action against erring shopkeepers for violating the Food Safety and Standard Rules,” he said.

“It was reiterated that such inspections would be conducted on a regular basis and warned the traders of stern action if they are found indulging in profiteering,” he added.
