J&K reports 32 fresh positive cases of COVID-19

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 32 positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours which took the cumulative infection tally to 4,54,501, officials said Sunday.

They said 17 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu division and 15 from Kashmir.

Providing district-wise breakup for these positive cases, they said that Jammu district reported all 17 cases in the division, while in Kashmir division, Srinagar reported 10 cases, Baramulla reported three cases and Budgam reported two cases each while no other district across the Union Territory reported any fresh case.

Moreover, 10 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals, including three from Jammu division and seven from Kashmir in the last 24 hours. .

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 2,051 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,31,81,174.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,54,501 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far in J&K, currently there are 163 active positive cases in the UT, including 109 in Jammu division and 54 in Kashmir. So far 4,49,586 persons have recovered and 4,752 have died – 2,424 in Kashmir division and 2,328 in Jammu division.

India sees 12,899 fresh COVID-19 cases

India on Sunday recorded 12,899 fresh COVID-19 cases that pushed its infection tally to 4,32,96,692, while the number of active cases increased to 72,474, according to Union health ministry data.

The death toll climbed to 5,24,855 with 15 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.17 percent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.62 percent, the health ministry said.

An increase of 4,366 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.89 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 2.50 percent, the ministry said.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,26,99,363. The case fatality rate stood at 1.21 percent, it said.

According to the ministry, 196.14 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in the country under the nationwide inoculation drive.

The 15 new fatalities include seven from Kerala, three from Delhi, two from Maharashtra and one each from Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.
