“The sports festival is aimed at promoting sports and fitness among the local youth of the Valley and after completion of the training camp, the official district level championship of these three sports will be conducted in Gurez. This will provide the budding sportspersons of the valley a greater chance to showcase their talents and be selected for higher-level competitions,” the PRO said.

“More than 200 children from Tulail, Kanzalwan and Dawar sub-sectors participated on the first day of the event and efforts are being made by the District administrations and Army to include more children from far and wide,” he said.

“The initiative will not only infuse sports and fitness culture in Gurez but will also provide the youth a platform to enter into the world of sports and be benefitted through it,” he added.
