Chairman DDC Anantnag flags-off Bicycle rally

ANANTNAG: The Chairman, District Development Council (DDC) Anantnag, Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi today flagged-off a Bicycle rally from Sarnal Dhadat here to commemorate ‘World Bicycle Day” as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ campaign of government.

The Bicycle rally was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Anantnag and passed via K.P. Road to Sports Stadium Mattan.

As many as 214 athlete students participated with great sports enthusiasm. The purpose of the rally was to enhance the spirit of brotherhood and nationalism and to popularise the usage of Bicycles to solve the Global Warming-up and unhealthy lifestyle.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the DDC Chairman highlighted the benefits of Bicycling for keeping their fitness at par with fitness norms. He also congratulated the participant athlete students for being active in sports activities along with their academic engagements.

On the occasion, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Anantnag interacted with participating athlete students and encouraged their morale by motivational speech and by riding a Bi-Cycle during this event.

All the necessary arrangements were put in place in advance by the Activity Incharge of District Youth Services and Sports Office by deploying field staff all along the route to man the lanes and by-lanes and crossings.

At the presentation ceremony held at Sports Stadium Mattan, the Chief Guest distributed prizes among first 10 position holders for their encouragement.
