Proud of my son for saving lives: Slain cop’s father

Baramulla: Grief-stricken father of a policeman who was killed in gunfight with militants in Najibhat area of Baramulla Wednesday said he is proud of his son made the sacrifice for the sake of the country.

“I am proud of my son. He laid down his life for the country. Besides he saved the lives of thousands of people, that is why we are happy and proud that our son has been martyred,” Maqsood Ahmad Sheikh told reporters on the sidelines of the wreath laying ceremony of his son at DPL Baramulla.

Sheikh said that he spoke to his son on phone three days ago and he knows that his son will never return but he gave his life while fighting. “It is a matter of pride for us,” he said.

The policeman Mudasir Sheikh was killed in fierce gunfight with militants in Najibhat area.

Meanwhile, Police chief Dilbag Singh condoled the death of SPO.

In a statement he said that on his visit to Baramulla few days ago, he had felicitated the slain cop just for good work by him and his team in busting terror module involved in a recent grenade attack on a wine shop in Baramulla.
