Govt constitutes panel to examine matters related to defence land in J&K

Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir Government has constituted a panel to examine all matters related to the defence land in the Union Territory.

A local news agency, KNO, reported that in an order, the General Administration Department (GAD) has constituted a committee to examine all matters connected and incidental to the defence land in the Union Territory of J&K along with correction of Revenue records, wherever required in a time-bound manner.

According to the order, financial commissioner (Revenue) would head the committee while divisional commissioner, Kashmir, divisional commissioner, Jammu and deputy commissioner (concerned).

According to details revealed by the Government of India in the parliament in 2019, over 56,000 acres of land in Jammu and Kashmir is with different defence departments, wings and organizations.
