HC seeks details of officials involved in Handwara Water Supply scam

Srinagar: President of India on Thursday gave his assent to the appointment of two more judges for the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The additional judges have been appointed for a period of two years.

The fresh additional judges are Rahul Bharti and Moksha Khajuria Kazmi. With their appointment, the bench strength of the top court of the twin union territories of the erstwhile state J&K and Ladakh, shall go to 15.

A notification by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India   said the two additional judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, shall hold charge for a period of two years, with effect from the date they join their respective offices.

”In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Shri Rahul Bharti, and (ii) Ms. Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, to be additional judges of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh” read a notification issued by additional secretary to government of India, Ministry of Law & Justice Department of Justice.

The J&K and Ladakh High Court has a sanctioned strength of 17 judges including 13 permanent judges and four additional judges. With the appointment of two more judges, J&K’s appellate courts’ judge strength has gone up to 15 with two vacancies yet to be filled.
